Translation Evaluation IH(1)

Dear participant

First of all, thank you very much for taking part in my survey on the evaluation of translations. You will be asked to evaluate 4 translations. Your responses will of course be anonymised and treated confidentially. In the following, I will explain the survey procedure.

In order for you to get an overview, you will firstly see the complete source text and its translation. At this stage, you can leave a comment on the two texts. Afterwards, you will be asked to evaluate the translated text segments separately. The evaluation is based on the adequacy, naturalness and absence of errors.

Thus, the statements that help you with the evaluation are the following:

"1) The translation reflects the meaning of the original."

"2) The translation sounds natural."

"3) The translation does not include any spelling or typing errors."

"4) The translation does not contain any grammatical errors"

For statements 1 and 2, your response options are "I agree", "I kind of agree", "I kind of disagree", and "I disagree". For statements 3 and 4, you get to choose between "I agree" and "I disagree".

After each segment, you will have the opportunity to suggest improvements or to comment on the translated text.

Lastly, you will be asked for some personal data: gender, occupation, native language, experience in translation and age.
